Many vital nutrients can exert powerful healing effects in high doses. However, the amounts needed for therapeutic effects often exceed what can effectively be absorbed orally. With intravenous (IV) nutrient therapy, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, fatty acids, and/or amino acids are infused directly into the bloodstream. Bypassing the digestive tract allows for serum and cellular levels far higher than can be achieved orally.

The last decade has seen a dramatic increase in the use of IV nutritional therapy in med spas, IV boutiques, and even in mobile trailers. It’s one of the latest trends among celebrities and “influencers.” However, therapeutic nutrient IVs have been employed by functional medicine and naturopathic physicians for over 40 years, and IV therapy has been an integral part of our practice at Desert Oasis Clinic since we opened over 20 years ago.

Who Can Benefit From IV Therapy?

– Those who may have impaired absorption, or for other reasons are unable to get the nutrients they need from dietary sources alone.

– Clients looking for a more natural approach to help manage or recover from a chronic disease or infection.

– Healthy individuals not currently diagnosed with a disease, but need extra support from a boost of health-giving nutrients, such as when:

  • Run down and debilitated by periods of high stress or overwork.
  • Over-trained from intense exercise or athletics, which can deplete important nutrients, minerals, and electrolytes.
  • Fighting or recovering from infections, including viral infections such as colds and influenza, and bacterial infections as well.
  • Recovering from a surgery to help regain strength and energy, facilitate healthy tissue repair, and aid recovery.
  • Exhausted, headachey and/or hungover after a night of a little too much partying and fun.

How To Start IV Therapy At Desert Oasis Clinic

You must firs consult with Dr. Thompson or be screened by our nurse. Please note that this is a medical clinic setting, not a “quick shop” IV service. Once established as a patient and cleared to receive specific IVs, you can schedule for times that are open and convenient to you. Established patients who have not been seen by Dr. Thompson in over a year may be required to have an office visit before scheduling an IV.

We welcome patients undergoing a particular IV protocol by a physician in another state and wish to continue treatment with us. However, you will still need to consult with Dr. Thompson first. We will obtain your records and protocol directly from the other facility.
